Who'll stop the (runaway) train?

-- By Horatio Algeranon
(with apologies to CCR, "Who'll stop the rain")

Long as I remember, CO2 been goin up
Concentration sourin', warmin' on the ground.
“Skeptics” through the ages, tryin' to blame the sun,
And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the train.

I went down to DC, seekin' actions from the Gov,
Caught up in the fable, I watched emissions grow.
Exxon plans and oil deals, wrapped in golden chains.
And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the train.

Heard the “skeptics” denyin', how we’re played for fools
Humanity hit with heat waves, tryin' to keep cool.
Still CO2 kept risin', up through all those years.
And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the train.

Horatio would like to thank his good friend Eldon P. Slogmoor (Professor of Slobic Studies, PhDB) for a detailed slobic analysis of the above ditty. Any errors that remain are Horatio's.
