It may appear to be the case
That sea ice melts at glacial pace
But sea ice volume is decreasing
And glacial pace is now increasing.
*The rate of recession/shrinking of many glaciers is increasing (particularly in the arctic).
Because of "weather noise", arctic sea ice volume does not necessarily decrease from one summer to the next. but the trend over the last few decades is downward and the rate of ice loss appears to be accelerating as Tamino's graph makes clear:
